Description

The recreation attendants provide information regarding safe use of equipment, monitor guests during activities, participate and lead organized guest activities and provide memorable and safe experience on the Lake Morey Resort water front. Boat Drivers captain the pontoon boat for lake tours, as well as the ski boat for guest water sports. Drivers organize and inspect equipment, follow water way rules and provide a safe experience for all participants.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct recreational activities for guests of all ages.
  • Prepare facility for planned events and daily activities, secure facility at the end of shifts.
  • Ensure facility is maintained and safety procedures are followed by guests.
  • Monitor and maintain recreational activities and equipment.
  • Perform administrative duties, including registering participants, getting signed waivers, answering event inquiries and completing guest charges/room charges for activities
  • Our boat drivers are responsible for and help with assisting in driving and basic maintenance of the boat (gas in the boats in the morning, cleaning between sessions, day-to-day upkeep, etc.), and maintaining the safety of the guests during activity.
  • Secure boats by locking them to the dock when not in use
  • Safely operate motorized watercraft in and around the lake and resort property.
  • Safeguard the lives of guests in boating areas.
  • Operate water craft in a safe manner and understanding of waterway rules.
  • Towing a variety of different activities (tubing, skiing, wakeboarding) behind a ski boat.
  • Use signals and commands used to communicate on water craft.
  • Perform recreation activities (tubing, skiing, wakeboarding) in order to understand, show example and then teach activity.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of boats and simple maintenance/care (fuelling/lights/checking prop).
  • Basic water craft skills (tying knots/tying up craft/anchoring).
  • Provide appropriate assistance in the case of an injury.
  • Complete reports for injury, accidents and other incidents.
  • Be alert to program safety factors and potential hazards; report any problems or hazards to the General Manager.
  • Follow all rules and safety regulations as set forth by company, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Pick up litter, trash and debris from facility. Maintain a clean work station and waterfront.
  • Routinely clean equipment and supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates outside on the waterfront. The noise level on the boat can be loud. The job is often performed in outside weather conditions, including direct sun, precipitation and morning cold.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is frequently very active and often requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day while participating in guest activities and recreation. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a seasonal position. Weekend work will be required frequently.

Required Education and Experience

  • Operator must have a valid State of Vermont (or equivalent) boater’s license in good standing.
  • Boat operation, water skiing, tubing and other water sports experience is essential.
  • Must be CPR Certified
