Total Solar Eclipse

Enjoy viewing of the Total Solar Eclipse from Lake Morey!

ORDER BOXED LUNCHES

DINNER RESERVATIONS

  • A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun.
  • People viewing the eclipse from locations where the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun – known as the path of totality – will experience a total solar eclipse. The sky will become dark, as if it were dawn or dusk.
  • On Apr. 8, 2024, the new moon will look relatively large and, therefore, cover 100% of the sun's disk
    • Difffernce from Annular Solar Eclipse:
    • An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, but when it is at or near its farthest point from Earth.
    • Because the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller than the Sun and does not completely cover the Sun.
    • As a result, the Moon appears as a dark disk on top of a larger, bright disk, creating what looks like a ring around the Moon.
  • The path of the eclipse continues from Mexico, entering the United States and traveling through Vermont.
  • It will be the last total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States until 2044
